Wiz Khalifa Invests Into PFL, Joins Ownership Group in Advisory Role

The Professional Fighters League will be gaining a
major name in pop culture and music to boost its status. On Thursday, the PFL announced via press release that popular
rapper Wiz Khalifa has invested in the company. Additionally, he
will join the ownership group that consists of names like actor
Kevin Hart and television producer Mark Burnett. As an advisor,
Khalifa will be put on pop culture duty, relating to younger fans
and providing his music for events and coverage.

“I’m so proud to join forces with the Professional Fighter League,”
Khalifa wrote in a statement. “I’ve been doing MMA training for
years now, and am also the biggest MMA fan – to be able to bring my
expertise and vision to the sport is super exciting and I can’t
wait for the action to get started on April 23.”

PFL CEO Peter Murray was elated about Khalifa buying in to the
organization, with his own statement reading, “I’m excited to
welcome Wiz Khalifa to the PFL’s ownership group and partner with
such a gifted global music and cultural icon.” He continued, “Wiz
will play an active role in shaping and amplifying the voice of the
PFL brand and how it resonates with the 550 million fans around the
world.”

The first PFL event will take place on April 23, with
PFL 1: 2021 Regular Season
held at the Ocean Casino Resort in
Atlantic City, N.J. The whole of the regular season will go down in
this arena, with the season playing out inside of a COVID-19
bubble. This first show will feature featherweight and
lightweights, with a headliner at 155 pounds between Anthony
Pettis
and Clay
Collard
.
