Davi
Belfort, the 16-year-old son of former UFC champion Vitor
Belfort, has drawn the attention of several colleges thanks to his
quarterbacking abilities.
“He followed me in the gym since he was very young. Certainly that
routine helped him to fall in love with football, because I never
forced him or my daughters to fight,” Belfort told Sherdog.com.
According to the elder Belfort, Davi drew interest ahead of
schedule for his abilities on the gridiron. The quarterback
prospect attends Cardinal Newman in West Palm Beach, Fla.
“I was really impressed how focused he is and how he uses social
media to make good connections to improve,” Vitor said. “Now, for
example, he is training with (University of Alabama quarterback)
Bryce Young in Costa Mesa. Bryce in one of the best quarterbacks in
the country at his age, so he is learning a lot from him and also
from his excellent coach.”
That dedication has resulted in scholarship offers from Arizona
State University, Florida Atlantic University and the University of
Fort Lauderdale for Davi, who has lived in Florida with his family
since he was 5 years old.
Vitor says that Davi is not the only athletic talent in the family.
His 13-year-old daughter Vitoria, is considered among the Top 5 on
the East Coast at her position in volleyball, while 11-year-old
Chiara is already considered by some as the No. 1 all-around
gymnast in the region.
Vitor is quite proud of the athletic feats of his offspring, but if
he had to pick one with the most likely chance to succeed in MMA,
it would be Vitoria.
“No doubt Vitoria is the one who impressed me the most by her
striking abilities and punching power, but I´m very happy that they
found their own way,” Vitor said.
