Two former Cage Warriors champions are colliding in a 185-pound
clash.
Former welterweight champion Craig White
is moving up to the middleweight division to take on the former
divisional champion James Webb
at CW 115.
MMA Junkie initially reported the news before the British
promotion officially announced it on Monday morning.
Ultimate Fighting Championship alum White (14-11) is looking to
bounce back from a four-bout skid. White’s stint in the UFC didn’t
go according to plan, as “The Thundercat” was first steamrolled by
Neil
Magny at UFC Fight Night 130 before dropping a decision to
Diego
Sanchez at UFC 228. After his Cage Warriors return, he was
edged by Joilton
Lutterbach at CW 102, and then he had to verbally tap out to
Louis
Glismann at Cage Warriors “Unplugged 2.”
Webb (7-2-1) claimed the 185-pound belt after securing a
third-round submission victory at the expense of Norwegian Thomas
Robertsen at CW 102. After that, he clashed with Nathias
Frederick at CW 106 in an epic battle that ended with a
majority draw before losing his title to Frederick in the last
seconds of the fourth stanza of their CW 111 rematch. In his latest
cage appearance, the former champion put on a dominant performance,
as he overcame Mick
Stanton (6-4) via unanimous decision.
CW 115 will go down behind closed doors at the BEC Arena in
Manchester on Sept. 25. On the same card, Ian Garry
will take on George
McManus in a welterweight affair.
