The
UFC on ESPN 62 main event will see rising prospect Caio
Borralho take a significant step up in competition against
Jared
Cannonier. Both men successfully made weight, as did the rest
of the 12 fight card. Also of note on the card are two “The
Ultimate Fighter 32” finals in the middleweight and featherweight
divisions.
A mainstay at the top of the division, “The Killa Gorilla” will
look to bounce back from a recent TKO defeat to Nassourdine
Imavov. Cannonier (17-7) had previously picked up wins over
Marvin
Vettori and Sean
Strickland. The 40-year-old stepped on the scale weighing 184
pounds.
This is the first UFC main event for Borralho (16-1, 1 NC), who is
undefeated inside the Octagon. A member of The Fighting Nerds, the
Brazilian has gone 6-0 inside the promotion with key wins over
Paul
Craig and Abusupiyan
Magomedov. The 31-year-old will be the younger fighter by nine
years and officially weighed 186 pounds on the dot.
The UFC on ESPN 62 main card will air on ESPN+ and ESPN at 10 p.m.
ET/7 p.m. PT. Prelims begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ESPN+.
