Editor’s note: The article has been updated at 2:45 p.m. ET on
April 15 to reflect that every fighter has now successfully made
weight.
After today’s weigh-ins, the
Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to return back to ESPN
airwaves and the UFC Apex for a 14-fight card.
The
UFC on ESPN 34 main event will see welterweight contenders
Vicente
Luque and Belal
Muhammad battle for the second time, as the Brazilian knocked
out “Remember the Name” in just 79 seconds back in 2016. While both
headliners and the majority of the card had no issue making weight,
lightweight Drakkar
Klose initially weighed in .75 pounds heavy for his bout
against Brandon
Jenkins. Klose returned nearly an hour later, and he
successfully hit the mark of 156 pounds.
A fan favorite due to his aggressive fighting style, Luque (21-7-1)
is looking to extend his win streak to five. “The Silent Assassin”
is coming off back-to-back brabo choke wins against Tyron
Woodley and Michael
Chiesa. His lone setback in his last 11 bouts is a unanimous
decision defeat to Stephen
Thompson. The Brazilian stepped on the scale at 171 pounds on
the dot.
Muhammad (20-3, 1 NC) hasn’t tasted defeat since 2019. After a
disappointing no contest against Leon
Edwards that was stopped due to an accidental eye poke,
Muhammad has won two bouts against Demian Maia
and Thompson. The American looks to continue his streak while
exacting revenge on the only man to ever knock him out, and he
looked great on the scale by weighing 170.5 pounds.
UFC on ESPN 34 prelims will stream on ESPN+ starting at 5:30 p.m.
ET/2:30 p.m. PT. The main card will then air live on ESPN and ESPN+
at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT.
