Former M-1 Global champion Bruno Silva
roared back from a two-rounds-to-none deficit to finish an
exhausted Andrew
Sanchez
with punches in their featured
UFC Fight Night 195
prelim on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las
Vegas. Silva (21-6, 2-0 UFC) drew the curtain 2:35 into Round 3,
keeping his head above water in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship
middleweight division.

Sanchez (12-7, 5-5 UFC) executed repeated takedowns, paired them
with positional control and applied his ground-and-pound when the
opportunities presented themselves. However, “The Ultimate Fighter”
Season 23 winner’s gas tank betrayed him. After being docked a
point for a low blow early in the third round, a visibly fatigued
Sanchez retreated into a defensive shell. Silva made his move,
ravaging his counterpart’s exposed ribcage with powerful hooks to
both sides. He then pinned Sanchez to the cage and let the punches
fly in a sustained burst that prompted referee Keith
Peterson
to act.

Silva now finds himself on a run of six straight wins. He has not
lost a fight since Dec. 10, 2016.

Roberts Upends Favored Emeev

Sanford MMA’s Danny
Roberts
rode an effective sprawl and knee strikes from the
clinch to a contentious split decision over former M-1 Global
champion Ramazan
Emeev
in a three-round welterweight tilt. Judge Sal D’Amato saw
it 29-28 for Emeev, while Rick Winter and Chris Lee
struck 29-28 and 30-27 scorecards for Roberts.

Neither man truly separated himself from the other. Emeev (20-5,
5-2 UFC) delivered takedowns in the first and second rounds,
threatened on occasion with submissions and controlled the pace in
the clinch. Roberts (18-5, 7-4 UFC) was the aggressor in the latter
half of the match, punched in combination at close range and zeroed
in on the body with knees. Those efforts proved to be enough.

The loss snapped Emeev’s modest two-fight winning streak.

Carolina Denies Replacement Godinez

Opportunistic standup and stingy takedown defense carried Luana
Carolina
to a unanimous decision over former Legacy Fighting
Alliance champion Lupita
Godinez
in a three-round women’s flyweight battle. All three
cageside judges scored it the same: 29-28 for Carolina (8-2, 3-1
UFC).

A late-notice substitution for Sijara
Eubanks
, Godinez (6-2, 1-2 UFC) pursued a dogged clinch in the
first round, struck for a takedown and scrambled into side control.
She framed a kimura and transitioned to an armbar, only to run out
of time. Carolina managed to stay upright across the final 10
minutes, punched well in combination and snuck in a few knees and
kicks to keep her counterpart on her toes. Unable to get the fight
to the ground, Godinez—who submitted Silvana
Gomez Juarez
with an armbar on Oct. 9—came up short in other
phases and failed in her bid to post her second win in a week.

Carolina, 28, will enter her next assignment on the strength of
back-to-back victories.

Batgerel Buries Returning Davis

Jackson-Wink MMA’s Danaa
Batgerel
put away Brandon
Davis
with punches in the first round of their bantamweight
encounter. Davis (14-9, 2-6 UFC)—who was back in the Octagon for
the first time in more than two years—bowed out 2:01 into Round 1,
his four-fight winning streak having run its course.

The 32-year-old Batgerel (10-2, 3-1 UFC) unleashed powerful hooks
from both hands, pushed the Dana White’s Contender Series Season 1
graduate backward and continued to buzz the proverbial tower. He
floored Davis with an overhand right, allowed him to stand and
dropped him again with a flurry of blows. Batgeral sensed the
finish was near and
swarmed with knees, elbows and punches until referee
Herb Dean had
seen enough.

Batgeral has rattled off three consecutive victories, all of them
first-round finishes.

Carnelossi Choke Submits Nunes

Ariane
Carnelossi
submitted promotional newcomer Istela
Nunes
with a rear-naked choke in the third round of their
women’s strawweight pairing. Nunes (6-2, 0-1 UFC) conceded defeat
2:57 into Round 3, suffering her second setback in three
appearances.

Carnelossi (14-2, 2-1 UFC) leaned on merciless pressure, forced the
Parana Vale Tudo product to operate off the back foot and mixed in
takedowns that yielded increasingly positive rewards. She followed
an overhand left into the clinch in the third round, swooped in for
a takedown and advanced to Nunes’ back without much effort. From
there, she secured her position with hooks,
slipped her forearm underneath the chin and cinched the
choke
.

The 28-year-old Carnelossi has won 14 of her last 15 bouts.
