UFC 272 Update: Multiple Bouts Official for March 5 Card in Las Vegas

The lineup for
UFC 272
appears to be nearly complete, as the promotion
confirmed multiple previously rumored or reported bouts for the
March 5 event.

The following bouts are now official for UFC 272: Tagir
Ulanbekov
vs. Tim Elliott
at flyweight, Jalin
Turner
vs. Jamie
Mullarkey
at lightweight; Devonte
Smith
vs. Erick
Gonzalez
at lightweight; Nicolae
Negumereanu
vs. Ihor
Potieria
at light heavyweight and Dustin
Jacoby
vs. Michal
Oleksiejczuk
at light heavyeight.

UFC 272 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined
by a welterweight duel between Jorge
Masvidal
and Colby
Covington
. The main card airs via pay-per-view on ESPN+
beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The prelims begin on ESPN+ at 6
p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and then continue on ESPN and ESPN+ at 8 p.m.
ET/5 p.m. PT.

Dagestan’s Ulanbekov has been victorious in 14 of his 15
professional outings, including a pair of victories in UFC
competition. Elliott, meanwhile, is a former flyweight title
challenger who had a two-bout winning streak snapped in a decision
loss to Matheus
Nicolau
in his last outing at UFC Fight Night 194.

The 26-year-old Turner is currently on a three-bout Octagon winning
streak that features finishes of Josua Culibao, Brok Weaver
and Uros
Medic
. After losing his first two promotional appearances,
Mullarkey has put together back-to-back KO/TKO wins against
Khama
Worthy
and Smith.

Smith is 3-2 in the Octagon, with the aforementioned seback against
Mullarkey coming in his most recent Octagon appearance at UFC Fight
Night 193. A Combate Americas veteran, Gonzalez suffered a
second-round KO loss to Jim Miller in
his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 195.

Romania’s Negumereanu has won two straight UFC appearances after
dropping his Octagon debut to run his professiona mark to 11-1.
Ukraine native Potieria will make his UFC debut after earning a
contract with a Round 1 TKO of Lukasz
Sudolski
on the Contender Series this past September.

Jacoby, who is a former Glory Kickboxing competitor, has put
together a 4-0-1 record during his second go-round with the UFC,
including a three-round verdict over John Allan
Arte in his last outing. Oleksiejczuk went 2-0 in the promotion in
2021, posting wins over Modestas
Bukauskas
and Shamil
Gamzatov
.
