your smart TV, computer, phone, tablet or streaming device via the
ESPN app. A top-10 spot at flyweight will be on the line for the
Ultimate Fighting Championship event on Oct.
9. On this
Oct. 9 UFC Fight Night event inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas,
Tim
Elliott (17-11-1) takes on Matheus
Nicolau (16-2-1) at 125 pounds, per
MMA Fighting on Thursday. The fight has since been confirmed by
other outlets.
Former title challenger and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 24 winner
Elliott finds himself on his first UFC win streak since his first
stint in 2012. Elliott has beaten Ryan Benoit
and Jordan
Espinosa by decision in his last two appearances, putting an
end to a trio of setbacks against Deiveson
Figueiredo, Askar
Askarov and Brandon
Royval. Should the Glory MMA & Fitness product emerge
victorious, it will be his first three-fight win streak inside the
Octagon.
Nicolau will be also looking to put a win streak together, as he
returned to the promotion in March to take a split verdict over
Manel
Kape. The Brazilian left the organization after four fights
from 2015 to 2018, with a head kick knockout loss to Dustin
Ortiz spurring Nicolau to move on for some time. A pair of wins
over Alan
Gabriel dos Santos and Felipe
Efrain – the former saw Nicolau pull off a rare Japanese
Necktie submission – prompted his return to the promotion, where he
tried to face Tagir
Ulanbekov on several instances.
The card on Oct. 9 will be of the UFC Fight Night variety, and it
will be held in the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Serving in the main
event is a women’s strawweight tilt between Marina
Rodriguez and Mackenzie
Dern. Drawing a main card assignment is a heavyweight clash
between Alexander
Romanov and Jared
Vanderaa, while Mariya
Agapova will face Sabina Mazo
in a battle of 9-2 flyweights.
