The new matchups are as follows: Diana
Avsaragova vs. Alejandra
Lara at flyweight; Christopher
Gonzalez vs. Max
Rohskopf at lightweight and Jornel Lugo
vs. Jaylon
Bates at bantamweight.
MMAjunkie.com was first to report Avsaragova vs. Lara, while
FanSided
MMA initially brought word of Gonzalez vs. Rohskopf and Lugo
vs. Bates.
Bellator 290 takes place at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., and is
headlined by a heavyweight title tilt between Ryan Bader
and Fedor
Emelianenko. In the co-main event, Vadim
Nemkov will defend the light heavyweight crown against Yoel Romero.
The evening’s main card will air on CBS.
Avsaragova is undefeated in five professional outings and is coming
off a three-round verdict over Kyra Batara
in her third promotional appearance at Bellator 276. A former
flyweight title challenger, Lara has dropped her last three fights
under the Bellator banner.
Team Alpha Male’s Gonzaelz went 1-1 in 2022, knocking out Saad Awad at
Bellator 277 before falling to Usman
Nurmagomedov via submission at Bellator 283. A one-time UFC
competitor who gained notoriety for quitting on his stool in that
one appearance, Rohskopf has turned things around since that bout
with back-to-back victories under the Cage Warriors banner.
Lugo began his professional tenure with eight consecutive triumphs
— including four under the Bellator banner — before suffering his
first defeat to Danny
Sabatello at Bellator 278. Bates is 6-0 as a pro with all of
his victories coming in Bellator MMA, including four via
submission.
