An upcoming Bellator
MMA event’s lineup has gained a featherweight tilt, Sherdog has
learned from a source close to the promotion.
Long-time Bellator featherweight contender Henry
Corrales will meet Vladislav Parubchenko on a yet unnumbered
Bellator event that will take place in Phoenix on Oct. 16.
In his latest cage appearance, former King of
the Cage two-division champion Corrales (18-6, 6-6 Bellator)
tapped to a second-round rear-naked choke at the hands of Johnny
Campbell at Bellator 258. Prior, “OK” bounced back from a
two-bout skid by overcoming Brandon
Girtz thanks to a narrow split decision at Bellator 250.
The 28-year-old Parubchenko (15-2, 0-1 Bellator) made his
promotional debut at Bellator 244 in August 2020. That night, he
dropped a decision to John de
Jesus, suffering his first loss in more than five years. The
Ukrainian signed with the California-based promotion after going on
an eight-bout streak.
Bellator Phoenix will go down at the Footprint Center. The card is
headlined by the light heavy-weight championship clash between
divisional titleholder Vadim
Nemkov (14-2) and Ultimate Fighting Championship vet Anthony
Johnson (23-6). The bout is also a semifinal for the light
heavyweight grand prix that also sees former 205-pound kingpin and
current heavyweight champion Ryan Bader
(28-6) locking horns with UFC alum Corey
Anderson (15-5) on the same card for a spot in the grand
finale.
