Bellator MMA is launching its European Series starting with Bellator Newcastle this weekend, and fans need not worry about how to watch the event any longer.
A source with the promotion told Sherdog.com that fight fans in the United States will be able to watch Bellator “Newcastle” in its entirety, live on the Bellator App. No cable authentication will be needed to access the event, and fans can simply log on to the app and view the event as it airs. For audiences in the U.K., this week the promotion announced a broadcasting deal with Channel 5 to televise these events in 2019 as well.
Bellator Newcastle “Pitbull vs. Scope” airs live at 3:00 p.m. ET for the preliminary bouts, and 5:00 p.m. ET for the main card. It is the first of a series of at least six events titled the European Series that will take place in the U.K. and Europe across 2019. Bellator Newcastle is currently the only announced event of the series, and the upcoming event of Bellator 217 in Dublin will not be part of the European Series. Upcoming events are TBA.
Bellator Newcastle is headlined by a lightweight tilt between Patricky Freire against Ryan Scope on Feb. 9 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. The co-headlining attraction pits the unbeaten Aaron Chalmers against Corey Browning at lightweight. Unlike some previous Bellator events held in the U.K., Bellator Newcastle will not be co-promoted with British organization BAMMA, and all fighters competing at this event are signed with Bellator.
