Shamil
Musaev and Uros
Jurisic have each been fined following their post-fight brawl
at KSW
58 this past Saturday.
Shortly after Musaev earned a unanimous verdict over Jurisic in a
featured welterweight bout in Lodz, Poland, the two men reconvened
in the cage. What momentarily looked like it would be a
sportsmanlike embrace instead resulted in Musaev slamming his
opponent on the canvas. What followed from there was an all-out
melee, with both corners diving on the pile while officials
attempted to separate the combatants.

KSW officials have reviewed all available video, and as a result of
the incident, Musaev has been fined 50 percent of his purse, and
Jurisic has received a 30 percent fine. Additionally, Abus
Magomedov, who helped corner Musaev, has been banned from fighting
for six months and cornering for 12 months for his part in the
scene.
“Moreover, all the unauthorized persons who entered the cage after
the fight was over are banned from taking part in the KSW events as
members of fighters’ teams,” a statement from KSW read.
“KSW would like to emphasize that
unsportsmanlike behavior and violations of the
federation’s rules by the fighters or members of their teams is
completely unacceptable.”
Musaev’s unanimous decision victory will stand. However, the
bonuses awarded from the “Fight of the Night”-winning bout will be
withheld from the athletes. Instead, those awards, along with the
fighters’ fines, will be donated to the treatment of Laura Paczula and Pola Omielanczuk, the
latter of which is the daughter of UFC veteran Daniel
Omielanczuk.
Moscow’s Musaev improved to 14-0 with the victory, with his last
three triumphs coming under the KSW banner. Jurisic, a veteran of
Bellator, Titan FC and “The Ultimate Fighter 21,” lost for the
first time in 12 professional appearances.
