One Championship will return to full capacity crowds with a bang in
March.
During an appearance on “The MMA Hour,” One CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced that the
previously postponed One “X” card will now take place on March 26
in Singapore with a special rules fight between Demetrious
Johnson and muay Thai standout Rodtang
Jitmuangnon in a featured bout. The card will also see Angela Lee
defend her atomweight belt against Nong Stamp
in the official main event, while Adriano
Moraes will put his flyweight belt on the line against Yuya
Wakamatsu.
Additionally, Eddie
Alvarez, Shinya Aoki
and Sage
Northcutt are also expect to compete at the event, according to
Sityodtong. Their bouts will be finalized in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Sityodtong also revealed that Bibiano
Fernandes is expected to defend his bantamweight crown against
John
Lineker at One Championship “Bad Blood” on Feb. 11.
Johnson vs. Jituangnon will consist of four, three-minute rounds,
with the ruleset alternating between muay Thai and MMA in each
frame. Four-ounce gloves will be worn for the contest.
Johnson began his promotional tenure with three consecutive
triumphs to win the One flyweight grand prix. “Mighty Mouse” came
up short in his bid for the title, when he suffered a second-round
knockout loss to Adriano
Moraes at One on TNT 1 on April 7.
Jituangnon is widely regarded as the No. 1 pound-for-pound muay
Thai fighter in the world and owns a career mark of 267-42-10 in
that realm. The 24-year-old is currently on a 10-bout winning
streak under the One banner.
