Renato ‘Moicano’-‘The Korean Zombie’ to Headline UFC Greenville in June

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will be taking its first trip to South Carolina this June, putting on what is sure to be a thrilling main event between Renato Carneiro and Chan Sung Jung.

First reporting this was Combate on Thursday morning. The UFC confirmed this story later on Thursday, announcing that “Moicano” (13-2-1) will meet “The Korean Zombie” (14-5) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 154 in Greenville, S.C., on June 22.

Carneiro suffered the first knockout loss of his career in his most recent performance against Jose Aldo, snapping a two-fight win streak over Cub Swanson and Calvin Kattar. Throughout his career, all of his stoppage wins have come by submission, never knocking out an opponent.

Jung was one second away from defeating Yair Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 139 last November. In doing so, the two men authored one of the best fights of the year, but Jung was ultimately on the receiving end of the 2018 “Knockout of the Year”. Prior to that battle, “The Korean Zombie” returned from a nearly four-year absence to punch Dennis Bermudez‘s lights out in the first round at UFC Fight Night 104 in Feb. 2017. In his six UFC bouts, he has earned six post-fight bonuses.

UFC Fight Night 154 takes place on June 22 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C. The event will be headlined by a featherweight clash between Renato Carneiro and Chan Sung Jung. Also featured on the card will be a pivotal women’s flyweight tilt between Andrea Lee and Montana De La Rosa, as well as Deron Winn making his UFC debut against Markus Perez at middleweight.
