Former One Championship lightweight title holder Shinya Aoki
will return to action to face James
Nakashima in the co-main event of One “Unbreakable” on Jan.
22.
The Singapore-based promotion announced the booking on Tuesday. One
“Unbreakable” takes place at Singapore Indoor Stadium and is topped
by a showdown for the organization’s bantamweight kickboxing crown
between Alaverdi Ramazanov and Capitan Petchyindee Academy. Three
other MMA bouts were announced for the event: Zebaztian
Kadestam vs. Gadzhimurad Abdulaev at welterweight; Meng Bo vs.
Samara
Santos Cunha at atomweight and Getu Hexi vs.
Lito
Adiwang at strawweight.
Aoki, 37, has won six of seven bouts since 2018 and is coming off a
decision win against Kimihiro
Eto under the Shooto banner in September.
A former Legacy Fighting Alliance champion, Nakashima is unbeeaten
in 12 professional appearances — including a three-round verdict
over Yushin Okami
at One “Dawn of Heroes” in his most recent outing in August
2019.
Additionally, One announced two more events that will be shown via
tape delay in the coming weeks. One “Unbreakable 2” will air on
Jan. 29 and is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Mauro
Cerilli and Abdulbasir
Vagabov. The event will also include the promotional debut of
Oumar
Kane, who takes on Alain
Ngalani. Kane had been
previously linked to a bout against jiu-jitsu superstar
Marcus
Almeida on Feb. 24, but apparently that fight did not come to
fruition.
Finally, One “Unbreakable 3” will air on Feb. 5 and features the
MMA return of Stamp
Fairtex, who has held the promotion’s muay Thai and kickboxing
titles. Fairtex will lock horns with Alyona
Rassohyna in an atomweight clash. In the co-main eventm
Shoko
Sato squares off against Fabricio
Andrade at bantamweight.
