In less than a month, the One Championship atomweight grand prix will
come to a close.
On Thursday, One sent out a press release announcing its six-fight
card that will take place on Dec. 3. The show, titled
“Winter Warriors,” will see the atomweight (115 pounds)
tournament finals as well as a lightweight (170 pounds) kickboxing
strap on the line in its live card. In the main event, Regian
Eersel will put up his 170-pound kickboxing belt as he takes on
Islam Murtazaev.
In the co-headlining bout, the finals of the 115-pound women’s
tourney will see Nong Stamp
(7-1) take on Ritu Phogat
(7-1), with the winner earning a crack at Angela Lee’s
title when she returns from having a daughter. The tournament did
not go quite as planned, as replacements were required in the
semifinals against both women. “Stamp Fairtex” was initially set to
take on Seo Hee Ham,
but due to an injury, she faced and beat Julie
Mezabarba by decision to advance. On the other side of the
bracket, India’s Phogat was expecting to meet Itsuki
Hirata, but Hirata withdrew and Jennifer
Olsim stepped in but fell to Phogat on the scorecards.
Other MMA bouts on the card include a 170-pound scrap pitting two
men whose last appearances were defeats to champ Christian
Lee, as Timofey
Nastyukhin (14-5) takes on Saygid
Guseyn Arslanaliev (8-2). Arslanaliev has not competed in over
two years, since that grand prix loss to Lee, while Nastyukhin made
his way to a title shot and got knocked out in 73 seconds.
Additionally, grappling wizard Marcus
Almeida (1-0) will try to earn his second career victory
against unbeaten knockout artist Ji Won Kang
(5-0).
