The upcoming
UFC Fight Night 192
event will no longer be tying the record
for the most bouts in company history. The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced
on Thursday night that the lightweight matchup between Nikolas
Motta
(12-3) and Cameron
VanCamp
(15-5-1, 1 NC) has been canceled due to an undisclosed
injury to one of the fighters. The two were
paired together
on Saturday, with VanCamp announcing on Twitter
that he was a member of the UFC. Their Sept. 18 meeting inside the
UFC Apex will have to wait, although it has not been determined if
the matchup will be preserved.

Motta, who was previously linked to a battle with Jim Miller,
went from potentially facing the most experienced fighter on the
roster to a fellow newcomer in VanCamp. The man nicknamed “Iron
Motta” had racked up three wins since a knockout defeat to Robert Hale
in 2018, with a one-punch demolition of Cesar
Balmaceda
catapulting him into Cage Fury Fighting Championships title
contention. After winning the belt against Juan
Gonzalez
, Motta was picked for the 2020 season of Dana White’s Contender Series, and a victory
against Joseph
Lowry
led to his signing.

VanCamp, a submission artist by trade, did not rise up through DWCS
or a standard feeder league to get his call up to the major stage.
Instead, four regional wins including three consecutive submissions
earned him a short-notice opportunity against Motta. In his career
that started in 2014, the Indiana native sometimes known as “The
Invader” posts a finish rate of 87 percent, with nine of his last
10 victories coming inside the distance.

UFC Fight Night 192 will trudge on with 14 fights, going down
inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Sept. 18. The headliner comes
at light heavyweight between ex-title challenger Anthony
Smith
and rising star Ryan Spann.
The co-main event also is a 205-pound battle, when Ion
Cutelaba
comes to blows with Devin
Clark
.
