Marian
Ziolkowski and Roman
Szymanski will vie for the vacant lightweight championship at
KSW 57.
The Polish promotion announced the matchup on Tuesday. The
155-pound belt was vacated after former champ Mateusz
Gamrot recently signed with the UFC. KSW 57 takes place in
Lodz, Poland, on Dec. 19 and is headlined by a heavyweight
championship tilt pitting Phil De Fries against Michal Kita.
The card airs via pay-per-view on KSWTV.com. Also confirmed for KSW
57 is a lightweight showdown between Artur
Sowinski and Borys
Mankowski.
Ziolkowski was the most recent title challenger for Gamrot, losing
a five-round verdict at KSW 54 on Aug. 29. That halted a two-bout
winning streak for the Warsaw native, who is 21-8-1 over the course
of a career that began in 2011. Ziolkowski is 2-2 under the KSW
banner.
After suffering a second-round TKO loss to Salahdine
Parnasse in an interim featherweight title bout at KSW 48,
Szymanski returned to 155 pounds to earned back-to-back triumphs
against Milos
Janicic and Filip Pejic.
Szymanski has won five of his seven KSW appearances and is 13-5 as
a professional overall.
