UFC lightweight Kevin Croom
and Dana White’s Contender Series alum Jose Flores
each received four-and-a-half month suspensions from the Nevada
Athletic Commission after testing positive for marijuana in
relation to recent bouts.
The NAC issued the sanctions during a teleconference on Wednesday.
Additionally, Contender Series heavyweight Chad
Johnson received a nine-month term for testing positive for a
banned amphetamine, while UFC welterweight Niko Price
had a temporary suspension extended after testing positive for the
prohibited cannabinoid carboxy THC in relation to his bout at UFC
Fight Night 178 on Sept. 19.
Croom scored a major upset in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night
177, where he submitted Roosevelt
Roberts with a guillotine choke 31 seconds into Round 1. Croom
tested positive for marijuana in a pre-fight drug screening, which
resulted in a suspension that ends on Jan. 26 and a $1,800 fine as
well as fees totaling $145.36.
Flores, who was submitted in the opening round of a matchup with
Jordan
Leavitt on the Contender Series on Aug. 4, will see his
suspension end on Dec. 4. He was fined $750 and must also pay
$145.36 in fees.
Johnson, meanwhile, suffered a first-round knockout loss to
Josh
Parisian in a Contender Series bout on Aug. 18. The Roufusport
heavyweight’s sanction lasts until May 18, and he also owes $750 in
fines and $145.36 in prosecution fees.
Price battled Donald
Cerrone to a draw on the date of his failed drug test at UFC
Fight Night 178. The NAC hopes to resolve Price’s case at a hearing
in December.
