Jon Jones proved again that he is the best light heavyweight fighter on the planet after dispatching Alexander Gustafsson in their rematch last Saturday night at UFC 232, but he apparently isn’t happy that talk of his past with performance-enhancing drugs continues to follow him.
Inside the Octagon at least, “Bones” managed to put all the drug testing controversy behind him, including the last minute venue change to Los Angeles, and defeated the Swede by TKO in the third round. After the fight, however, Jones was interviewed by the Fox Sports panel and according to former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion and Fox Sports analyst Michael Bisping, the champ was unhappy with the questions about his failed drug tests.
Bisping claims that during a commercial break, Jones blasted him and the producers of the show for focusing on the doping controversy rather than on his latest victory.
“On the weigh-in show, we had to interview Jon Jones,” Bisping said. “And of course every time we do this, we at Fox Studios obviously is a well-polished machine. It’s not like ‘Believe You Me,’ everything is planned with a fine-tooth comb. It’s proper TV, so they have to know, the producers, what questions are gonna be asked. So they tell us what questions to ask, they give us on little printed-out cards. The only thing is, I don’t care asking difficult questions. And I asked Jon Jones some questions, which apparently he didn’t like. After the fight, we interviewed him again and when we were on commercial break he was talking f*cking sh*t to whoever the powers that be were at Fox. ‘That motherf*cker Michael Bisping gonna be asking questions again with that dumb sh*t.’”
This isn’t the first time Jones has become frustrated with the media asking him about his past drug issues. Jones had an unpleasant exchange at the UFC 232 press event in the lead up to the fight with Izabelle Kostic, a Swedish media member. Jones later made a public apology to the reporter for his behavior.
