Manhoef is not finished yet. On Friday morning, Bellator
MMA revealed in a press release that Manhoef (32-14-1, 1 NC)
will be taking on Simon
Biyong (7-1) in a light heavyweight clash that will go down at
the upcoming
Bellator Paris card. In addition, the promotion announced a
series of other matchups at the event, including multiple natives
of France.
The last time he fought, former title challenger Manhoef smashed
Yannick
Bahati with a barrage of heavy ground-and-pound halfway through
the first stanza. In his post-fight interview, the 44-year-old
Dutch fighter was non-committal regarding his fighting future, but
it seems that he has found the motivation to keep going.
Born in Cameroon but fighting out of Italy, Biyong makes his
Bellator debut on a four-bout winning streak. All but one of his
victories have come inside the distance. In his latest appearances,
he crushed Quinton
Rossouw at EFC 82 before forcing Vitaly
Shemetov to tap out from strikes in December at Rizin 20.
The California-based promotion also announced that
Ultimate Fighting Championship vet Oliver
Enkamp (9-2) would lock horns with France’s Emmanuel
Dawa (9-3) in a welterweight feature. Plus, Bellator newcomer
Yves
Landu (15-8) takes on England’s Terry
Brazier (11-3) in the lightweight division, and French MMA vet
Davy
Gallon (18-7-2) is meeting Brian Hooi
(16-7, 1 NC) in a 158-pound catchweight.
Bellator Paris will take place at the Accor Arena in Paris, France,
on Oct. 10. The card will be headlined by the rematch between
Cheick
Kongo (30-10-2, 1 NC) and Timothy
Johnson (14-6) at heavyweight. Plus, Michael
Page (17-1) is welcoming former
Cage Warriors Fighting Championship champion Ross
Houston (8-0, 1 NC) in Bellator’s 170-pound division.
