Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki might say goodbye to one of its most
dominant champions ever very soon.
In the main event of KSW
54, Mateusz
Gamrot (17-0, 1 NC) put on a show in yet another successful
lightweight title defense, this time at the expense of Marian
Ziolkowski (21-8-1). “Gamer” was initially scheduled to clash
with Shamil
Musaev, but the Russian fighter was forced to pull out of the
battle after sustaining a knee injury in training. Ziolkowski,
who was supposed to fight Maciej
Kazieczko on the same card, tried his best, but it was not
enough to dethrone the defending champion. After a close first
round, Gamrot displayed his notorious fighting IQ and made
some small but significant adjustments that
nullified Ziolkowski’s arsenal. Eventually, all three judges
rewarded “Gamer” with the eighth decision victory on his record. In
a post-fight interview, Gamrot teased that his future might be away
from the KSW.
Former IBF Mediterranean heavyweight
champion Izu Ugonoh (yep, a real thing) just won his MMA debut by
low kick.

The co-main event featured the MMA debut of former IBF
Mediterranean heavyweight champion Izuagbe
Ugonoh. “Izu” took on Quentin
Domingos (4-2, 1 NC), who fought on the event despite his
pending four-year ban from the French Anti-Doping
Agency. Ugonoh seemed comfortable enough in the cage, landing
one low kick and displaying some grappling skills. The fight
ended in an anticlimactic fashion after Domingos seemingly
injured himself during a scramble phase with Ugonoh in the opening
stanza. “Ruskov” lamented some problems in his right leg that
didn’t allow him to continue fighting, and the referee called the
end of the fight at the 2:22 mark of Round 1.
I told you bombs !!
