Mariusz Pudzianowski KOs Michal Materla in KSW 70 Main Event

The main event of
KSW 70
saw Mariusz
Pudzianowski
take on former
Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki
middleweight champion Michal
Materla
in what was certainly a spectacle.

Pudzianowski (17-7, 1 NC), who outweighed his opponent by 34
pounds, came out swinging and was able to connect with Materla
(31-9). The two would
trade in the middle of the ring until Pudzianowski connected with a
terrific uppercut. Materla was instantly out and fell to the
floor
. The stoppage came at 1:47 of the first round.

The heavyweight co-main event saw Ricardo
Prasel
submit Daniel
Omielanczuk
. Omielanczuk (25-13-1, 1 NC) managed to walk down
Prasel (13-3) and took the fight to the ground in order to get rid
of his opponent’s height advantage. This would wind up being a
mistake by Omielanczuk, as the German locked in an ankle lock that
forced his opponent to tap. The finish officially came at 1:48 of
Round 1.

In the final light heavyweight contest of the night, Ivan Erslan
put away Rafal
Kijanczuk
in quick fashion. Erslan (12-1, 1 NC) landed a series
of hooks that knocked Kijanczuk (11-5) into the cage. Erslan kept
up the pressure and landed several punches to secure the stoppage.
The finish came at just 3:13 of the first frame.

The first of three heavyweight bouts saw Marek
Samociuk
dominate Izuagbe
Ugonoh
. Samociuk (4-2) wasted little time getting a takedown,
and then advanced to mount position. Ugonoh (1-2) had little
defense and took dozens of unanswered punches until the fight was
stopped at 3:38 of Round 1.

In light heavyweight action, Bartosz
Lesko
edged out Damian
Piwowarczyk
over three rounds. While far from an exciting
fight, Lesko (12-2-2) was able to secure a few takedowns while the
two battled in the clinch. While Piwowarczyk (5-1) had moments on
the feet, the fight repeatedly took place against the cage and
Lesko took over in Round 3. The rallying third frame led to three
29-28 scorecards in the favor of Lesko.

The lone middleweight fight on the main card saw strikers Radoslaw
Paczuski
and Jason
Wilnis
go to battle. Both men found success in the first round,
tagging each other with punches but never seriously hurting the
other. The striking contest never quite reached the excitement
level that fans had expected, and came to a disappointing end after
Wilnis (2-1) missed a kick and broke his finger while interrupting
his fall. Due to the finger injury, Paczuski (4-0) would be awarded
the TKO victory at 1:46 of Round 3.

Strawweights Anita Bekus
and Roberta
Zocco
opened the main card. The fight opened with both women
looking to strike, with Bekus (6-2) controlling the center of the
cage. The Polish fighter also had a grappling advantage as she was
able to take Zocco (3-4) down as well. Bekus would pepper Zocco
with punches, and eventually bloodied the face of the Italian
fighter. After three rounds, Bekus took a clear-cut decision win
with scores of 30-27 across the board.

In preliminary action, Albert
Odzimkowski
(12-6, 1 NC) picked up a TKO victory over Tommy Quinn
(9-6, 1 NC) after a slam injured the arm of the Irish fighter at
2:56 of the first round, and Francisco
Albano Barrio
(10-2) submitted Lukasz
Rajewski
(11-8, 1 NC) at 2:52 of Round 2 with a rear-naked
choke.
