Even at a 50-pound weight disadvantage, Magomed
Ismailov put a beating on Aleksander
Emelianenko.
Absolute Championship Akhmat returned with
ACA 107 on Friday, which took place at the VTB Arena in Sochi,
Russia.
The main event saw Ismailov (16-2-1) stepping up two weight
divisions to face longtime MMA veteran Emelianenko (28-8-1). At the
weigh-ins, Emelianenko came in 49 pounds heavier than his opponent,
but it turned out that the weight was not a factor at all. Ismailov
revealed his game plan shortly after the beginning of the battle.
After landing a few heavy combinations, he shot for a takedown and
took down Emelianenko. Once on the mat, Ismailov battered “The Grim
Reaper” over the course of three rounds. In the third stanza, the
referee decided he had seen enough and called the end of the match
with 90 seconds left. After this one-sided performance, Ismailov
extended his impressive unbeaten streak that started in September
2014.
In the co-main event, Abubakar
Vagaev (18-3) overwhelmed Gadzhimurad
Khiramagomedov (8-4) after three rounds of battle. Vagaev
imposed his dominant wrestling skills over Khiramagomedov early on
in the match. Khiramagomedov seemed unable to find a
counter-offensive and was limited to playing defense for most of
their welterweight struggle. All three judges rewarded Vagaev with
his 13th decision victory in his career. The WFCA veteran is now
2-0 in his ACA tenure, previously topping Fernando
Gonzalez at ACA 100 back in October 2019.
In earlier bantamweight action, former
Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight contender Magomed
Bibulatov (16-2) walked through Nikita
Chistyakov (11-6-1) thanks to a first-round TKO victory.
Bibulatov’s record with the promotion now stands at 2-0, having
crushed Josiel
Silva in his ACA debut at ACA 100.
Elsewhere, Nasrudin
Nasrudinov (9-0) and Evgeniy
Egemberdiev (11-3) put on a very intense fight that ended after
the doctor called the stop of the action at 3:44 of the third
round, rewarding Nasrudinov with his ninth victory on his perfect
record. In the first fight on the main card, Nashkho
Galaev‘s scored his first victory under the ACA banner by
edging Oleg
Borisov via contentious decision.
