The COVID-19 outbreak forced the Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki to take a long and unexpected break, but the Polish MMA promotion is still making the headlines by signing some of the hottest prospects in Europe.

KSW’s latest roster addition is undefeated Polish prospect Mateusz Legierski (6-0). KSW will share “Dynamit” with Oktagon MMA since he is currently holding the lightweight strap in the Czech promotion.

“I am really excited to add Oktagon champion Mateusz Legierski to the KSW roster,” KSW CEO Martin Lewandowski told Sherdog.com. “If you’ve ever seen him fight you will know why they call him ‘Dynamite’, he is one of Europe’s best and most exciting prospects. I am also very happy to share Legierski with the Oktagon promotion. I have great respect for Pavol Neruda and Ondrej Novotny and the incredible work they are doing for MMA in the Czech Republic & Slovakia with Oktagon.

“In the past we’ve had working relationships with promotions like RIZIN and PFL. It is always good that promotions around the world can work together, especially now during these times, towards creating a better market for everyone instead of trying to compete against each other.”

In his latest appearance in the cage, Legierski claimed the 155-pound divisional title with a five-round split-decision victory against Miroslav Strbak. Except for his most recent appearance, all the fights on Legierski’s record have finished inside the distance.

“I’m more than happy about signing the contract with KSW. In such hard times like what is happening right now around the world we all have to be able to rely on two things: family and home,” Legierski said to Sherdog. “Oktagon MMA is and always will be my family, and thanks to KSW I think I will also have my home. I am very proud to represent both promotions.”

Recently, two-division FEN champion Andrzej Grzebyk has signed with the promotion as well. At the moment, there is no official news about KSW’s next event.

The Polish promotion planned to hold KSW 53 “Fight Code” on March 21 at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. However, the COVID-19 health emergency forced the promotion to cancel the card. The clash between KSW welterweight champion Roberto Soldic and top contender Marius Zaromskis should have headlined the bill.
