The former UFC heavyweight champion was performing relatively well
through two rounds against Yorgan De
Castro
on Friday night at FLXcast Arena in Miami before he
appeared to dislocate his shoulder throwing a right hand in the
third round of the bout. After a brief pause in the action, the
fight was called off 35 seconds into Round 3, sending dos Santos to
his fifth consecutive defeat.

“Cigano” released a video over the weekend providing an update on
his condition. He also seemed pleased with the fight up until the
injury, as he had De Castro off balance thanks to leg kicks, jabs
and punching combinations to the head and body.

“My shoulder is back into place. In this position like this, I’m
not feeling any pain,” dos Santos said. “I already talked to my
doctor, we’re going to do some exams and figure out what’s going to
be the procedures to get this thing better as soon as possible.

“But before going to bed, I would like to share with you guys that
I was feeling so happy. I was feeling very good during the fight,
like I haven’t felt in a long, long time. And it was good. It was
good because I was able to deliver everything that I worked for.
The hard work we put in the gym, I was able to bring inside the
Octagon on the day of the fight, and things were working good for
us until we had this injury.”

Prior to the event, Eagle FC promoter Khabib
Nurmagomedov
expressed interest in booking the affable
Brazilian against Fedor
Emelianenko
in a cross-promotional bout if he had defeated De
Castro. As it currently stands, dos Santos hasn’t won an MMA bout
since March 2019, but Nurmagomedov indicated after the event that a
matchup with the Russian legend still could be a possibility.
