An interesting 185-pound clash has been added to an upcoming UFC
Fight Night card set for July.
According to a source close to the situation on Thursday, Tresean
Gore (3-1) will take on Josh Fremd
(9-3) on July 9 at middleweight. The source has asked to stay
anonymous since the matchup hasn’t been officially announced yet.
The two men will square off on the currently unnamed UFC
Fight Night event on that date, which does not yet have a
destination on the books.
“The Ultimate Fighter” Season 29 finalist Gore (3-1, 0-1 UFC) is
eager to add another name on his win column, and bounce back from
the first loss of his career. “Mr. Vicious” met eventual tourney
victor Bryan
Battle at UFC Fight Night 200 in February, and he dropped a
decision. Gore and Battle were initially scheduled to meet at UFC
on ESPN 30 on August 2021 as part of the TUF final, but the fight
was canceled when Gore injured his knee – Battle tapped Gilbert
Urbina in the newly booked final to claim the TUF trophy and
contract.
Former Legacy Fighting Alliance title challenger Fremd
(9-3, 0-1 UFC) made his UFC debut in April, stepping in on short
notice to face Alexander
Hernandez. While Fremd did claim a round on one judge’s
scorecard, he ultimately succumbed to the decision loss to
“Fluffy.” The Factory X representative signed with the Nevada-based
promotion after notching seven wins across eight appearances.
The UFC hasn’t announced an official headliner for the Fight Night
event on July 9. At the moment, the card also features a 135-pound
clash between Ronnie
Lawrence and Saidyokub
Kakhramonov, and a couple of women’s flyweight tilts as
Nina
Nunes takes on Cynthia
Calvillo, and Antonina
Shevchenko faces Cortney
Casey.
