A strawweight matchup pitting Jessica
Penne against Luana
Pinheiro has been rebooked for UFC
Fight Night on April 30.
Multiple outlets confirmed the booking following an initial report
from Canal do
Marinho. Penne and Pinheiro were initially slated to square off
on November 20 before Penne withdrew from the matchup due to
injury.
UFC Fight Night takes place at an as yet to be announced location
and is also expected to include a lightweight clash between
Donald
Cerrone and Joe Lauzon.
The event does not yet have a headliner.
Penne returned from a four-year absence at UFC on ESPN 22, when she
defeated Lupita
Godinez via split decision last April. The former Invicta FC
title holder followed up that performance with a first-round tapout
of Karolina
Kowalkiewicz at UFC 265. Penne had lost three straight Octagon
appearances from 2015 to 2017.
Pinheiro enters the pairing on an eight-fight winning streak. The
Brazilian earned a UFC deal with a win over Stephanie
Frausto on the Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020 and has
since best Randa
Markos via disqualification and Sam Hughes
via unanimous decision in UFC competition.
