Former light heavyweight champion Jan
Blachowicz will return to action against the streaking Carlos
Ulberg at UFC
London on March 22.
Additionally, Marcin
Tybura will lock horns with Mick Parkin
in a heavyweight clash on the same card. The promotion announced
both bouts on Tuesday. A main event has not been confirmed for UFC
London, which takes place at the O2 Arena.
Blachowicz will be competing for the first time since July 2023,
when he fell to Alex
-Pereira-224511″>Alex Pereira via
split decision at UFC 291. The Polish veteran was slated to face
Aleksandar
Rakic in a rematch at UFC 297 in January, but a
shoulder injury that required two separate surgeries forced him
to withdraw from the event. Blachowicz’s greatest run of UFC
success came from October 2017 to March 2021, when he was
victorious in nine of 10 Octagon appearances. During that time, he
defeated Dominick
Reyes via TKO to claim the vacant 205-pound belt and defended
the strap against Israel
Adesanya at UFC 259. He would relinquish the crown against
Glover
Teixeira one bout later.
Ulberg will take a seven-bout promotional winning streak into the
matchup with Ulberg. “Black Jag” earned his most significant
triumph to date in his last outing, when he outpointed former title
challenger Volkan
Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night 248 on Nov. 23. During his current
winning streak, Ulberg has finished five of his seven victories
inside the distance.
Tybura is coming off a second-round doctor stoppage win over Jhonta
Diniz in a short-notice pairing at UFC 309. The 39-year-old Pole
went 2-1 in 2024, also scoring a first-round submission of Tai Tuivasa
in March.
A London native, Parkin has won four straight outings since earning
a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. Most
recently, Parking knocked out Lukasz
Brzeski in the opening stanza of their clash at UFC 304.
