Jack Shore Retains Cage Warriors Bantamweight Title At CW 104

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship stopped at the Violet Arena in Cardiff, Wales, on Saturday for CW 104.

The main event of the card featured a bantamweight title fight, with Welsh hero Jack Shore putting his belt and his spotless record on the line. Scottish challenger Scott Malone put up a valiant fight, but in the end the champion managed to keep his title. “Tank” secured a slick rear-naked choke at 2:28 of the third stanza. In defending his belt, Shore extended his perfect record to 10-0, the last nine in CWFC, and it may be time for the 24-year-old to join the major leagues of MMA.

The co-main event was to have been the promotional debut of Ultimate Fighting Championship and BAMMA veteran Tom Watson, who wasn’t cleared to fight against Aaron Khalid due to health issues. The actual co-main event of the evening saw Belgium’s Donovan Desmae in a lightweight clash against Mason Jones. The Welshman proved to be the better fighter on the night, winning via unanimous decision. “The Dragon” now has an undefeated record of 7-0, with six victories coming inCage Warriors.

In a welterweight contest, Jamie Richardson smashed Phil Wells in the third stanza of their second encounter. The rematch went a little longer than the first bout between these fighters, but the outcome was the same. Referee Marc Goddard stopped the contest at 4:23, after Richardson unleashed all his striking power against the opponent in a sensational sequence.

Elsewhere, Cory McKenna submitted Fannie Redman via rear-naked choke after two rounds of battle in the strawweight division. In the opening bout of the main card, local fighter Kris Edwards bested Scotsman Josh Abraham via unanimous decision, snapping a two-bout losing streak.
