Coming off a first-round knockout of Tonya Evinger in October, Aspen Ladd has earned herself a fight against the elites of the division, as she will face Holly Holm at UFC 235.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced Friday that bantamweights Holm (12-4) and Ladd (7-0) will battle it out at UFC 235 in Las Vegas in March.
Former bantamweight champion Holm has alternated wins and losses in her last four bouts, most recently prevailing over Megan Anderson at featherweight. The two losses in that run were both featherweight title fights with Cristiane Justino and Germaine de Randamie, where she dropped both by decision. She has won post-fight bonuses in two of her last three outings. Holm celebrates arguably the biggest knockout in women’s divisional history when she lamped Ronda Rousey in 2015 to secure the bantamweight strap.
Ladd has never tasted defeat as a professional, winning her first five in Invicta Fighting Championships including a decision over top flyweight Sijara Eubanks before signing with the UFC. Since joining the Las Vegas-based promotion, she has rattled off two knockout wins over Lina Lansberg and Evinger, with the latter earning her “Performance of the Night” honors. Ladd has finished six of her seven opponents, including five knockouts.
UFC 235 will take place in Las Vegas, NV at the T-Mobile Arena on March 2. No headliner has yet been announced, but at welterweight Robbie Lawler will meet Ben Askren, and at featherweight Jeremy Stephens will square off against Zabit Magomedsharipov.
