Georges St. Pierre has been removed from the USADA drug testing pool upon announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts.
The former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion recently gave USADA notice of his decision, according to a report from ESPN . “Rush” had to provide written notice to the anti-doping agency to be removed from the pool, a step that was completed on Tuesday.
St. Pierre officially announced his retirement in February after negotiations for a potential bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov fell through. The Tristar Gym standout did leave the door open for a comeback if the right opportunity arose.
“If Dana [White] called me back and there was something interesting, we’ll see,” St. Pierre said at his retirement press conference. “Like a movie scenario, ‘he’s coming back,’ … we’ll see. But right now I’m not thinking about it.”
However, now that St. Pierre has officially notified USADA of his retirement and has been removed from the drug-testing pool, he would have to submit to six months of testing before he could return to active competition.
