The Japanese promotion announced during a press conference that
Mayweather will face Mikuru
Asakura
under boxing rules in an event that will air on the new
Rizin Fight Pass service. An exact date for the event was not
revealed.

Mayweather, who was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of
Fame over the weekend, retired from professional boxing with a 50-0
record following a victory over former two-division UFC champion
Conor
McGregor
in 2017. Since then he has appeared in three
exhibition contests, including a three-knockdown performance
against Tenshin
Nasukawa
at Rizin 14 that prompted the kickboxing standout’s
corner to throw in the towel. “Money” also went the distance for
eight rounds against YouTube personality Logan Paul
and squared off against former training partner Don Moore in
Abu Dhabi.

Askaura has no professional boxing experience but has compiled a
16-3 mark in MMA since beginning his career in 2012. He has been
victorious in 10 of 12 Rizin appearances and is coming off a
decision win over Yutaka
Saito
at Rizin 33.
