Conor
McGregor’s first priority remains a UFC comeback, but the Irish
star eventually plans on making a return to the Sweet Science, as
well.

The former two-division UFC champion briefly discussed his plans
during an interview with
Sky Sports. McGregor is currently on the mend from a broken leg
suffered in a loss to Dustin
Poirier at UFC 264 last July. A date for his Octagon return is
currently unknown.
“Boxing is my first love in combat sports,” McGregor said. “I had
such a great time the last time I was out there [boxing].
“Obviously, my return will be inside the octagon for the UFC and
mixed martial arts. That story is far from over. In fact, that
story is just being written, it’s just the beginning — so that’s
where I’ll make my return.”

McGregor’s star power reached its peak in 2017, when he leveraged a
showdown with undefeated boxing champion Floyd
Mayweather. The Dublin native earned the biggest payday of his
fighting career against “Money” in a 10th round technical knockout
loss. Since then, several MMA fighters, including the likes of
Anderson
Silva and Tyron
Woodley, have tested the waters in boxing, with mixed results.
McGregor figures to have plenty of options if and when he pursues
another boxing bout.
“Boxing, I will grace the squared circle again, for sure, in the
future,” he said.
