Ciryl Gane Shares X-Ray of Foot Injury Suffered at UFC 310

As he indicated after the bout, Ciryl Gane
was hindered early on in his rematch against Alexander
Volkov
at UFC
310
.

Gane revealed in a social media post on Monday the extent of the
injuries he suffered on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las
Vegas. In addition to a broken toe, “Bon Gamin” also apparently
injured two metatarsals in his foot. The Frenchman told Joe Rogan
in his post-fight interview that the toes were broken in the
opening stanza.

“It wasn’t only the big toe but also the two metatarsals that gave
out on me at the beginning of the first round,” Gane said on his
Instagram stories. “Which basically means I had no foot, but we
didn’t give up and used our brain to fight.”

Despite the injury, Gane defeated Volkov via contentious split
decision in their heavyweight clash. Many observers thought Volkov
deserved the nod, including 19 of the 20 media scorecards tracked
by MMADecisions.com.

Gane himself wasn’t thrilled with the performance, as he attempted
to exit the Octagon without speaking after the official verdict was
announced.

“I was frustrated about my fight because of this [injury],” Gane
said during his post-fight media session. “I was frustrated because
I started my training in July for this fight, and you started your
fight like this. Like the first second you land.”

Nonetheless, Gane is now 2-0 against Volkov. The 34-year-old MMA
Factory product has won two straight fights since falling to
Jon
Jones
in a heavyweight title bout at UFC 285.
