A matchup between 2021 heavyweight champion Bruno
Henrique Cappelozza and Englishman Stuart
Austin will serve as the headliner for Professional Fighters
League’s second regular season card on April 28.
PFL 2 will be held at Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington,
Texas, and features a lineup of heavyweights and featherweights.
The main card airs on ESPN2 and ESPN+ at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, while
prelims stream on ESPN+ at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT. In the
co-main event, Dana White’s Contender Series alum and Cage Warriors
veteran Brendan
Loughnane will square off against Japanese prospect Ryoji Kudo
at 145 pounds.
Two other heavyweight pairings round out the main draw, as Ante Delija
meets Matheus
Scheffel while Renan
Ferreira takes on Jamelle
Jones.
The evening begins with the following six bouts on the preliminary
card: Lance
Palmer vs. Chris Wade at
featherweight; Bubba
Jenkins vs. Sung Bin Jo
at featherweight; Denis
Goltsov vs. Sam Kei at
heavyweight; Ali Isaev vs.
Klidson
Abreu at heavyweight; Sheymon
Moraes vs. Boston
Salmon at featherweight and Alejandro
Flores vs. Saba
Bolaghi at featherweight.
Cappelozza enjoyed a 4-0 2021 campaign in PFL, capping off his
championship run with a five-round verdict against Delija at the
promotion’s final event this past October. The 32-year-old
Brazilian has won seven of eight fights dating back to 2016, with
his only defeat during that time coming against UFC light
heavyweight contender Jiri
Prochazka.
Austin made his PFL debut last August, when he suffered a 31-second
knockout loss to Ferreira. That snapped a two-bout winning streak
for the former Elite MMA Championship title holder. The 34-year-old
known as “He-Man” owns a 15-7 career mark that includes notable
triumphs over Tom
Aspinall and Satoshi
Ishii.
