With Alex Perez stepping in to face Deiveson
Figueiredo, multiple sources tell me the UFC is now targeting
Brandon Moreno vs. Brandon Royval at
#UFC255 in what has to be a number one contender fight.

your smart TV, computer, phone, tablet or streaming device via the
ESPN app. An all-Brandon flyweight battle for the ages is coming to
a
Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-view. Fresh off Alex Perez
stepping out of his match with Brandon
Moreno (17-5-1) to face Deiveson
Figueiredo for the belt, the UFC has found a replacement,
according to BJPenn.com
on Friday. The promotion is looking to book Brandon
Royval (12-4) against Moreno on UFC
255, which will be taking place on Nov. 21 at the UFC Apex in
Las Vegas. It has since been confirmed by
other outlets. This will be the first match in UFC history
pitting together two men named Brandon.
Royval burst on to the UFC scene in May by tapping Tim Elliott
with an arm-triangle choke. Since then, “Raw Dawg” engaged in a
thrilling battle with Kai Kara
France in September, where he ended up tapping the Kiwi in the
second round after engaging in a “Round of the Year”-candidate
opening frame. Before signing with the UFC, Royval appeared eight
times for the
Legacy Fighting Alliance, in a run that culminated with winning
the flyweight strap at LFA 79 in November. Eleven of the 12 career
wins for Royval have come by stoppage.
Moreno has made the most of his second stint with the promotion,
returning after a single victory in LFA to fight to a draw against
the undefeated Askar
Askarov. Since then, Moreno has taken a pair of spirited
decisions over Kara France and Jussier
Formiga, the last of which coming in March. Making his UFC
debut after Season 24 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Moreno beat
Ryan
Benoit and put Dustin
Ortiz to sleep with a rear-naked choke to start things off. Two
decision losses to Sergio
Pettis and Alexandre
Pantoja forced his ejection from the company, but only for 16
months.
UFC 255 takes place on Nov. 21 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, where
it will be headlined by a flyweight championship bout between
Figueiredo and Perez for flyweight gold. The co-main event is
another flyweight title fight but in the women’s division, as
Valentina
Shevchenko defends the strap against Jennifer
Maia. The main card will treat fans to a rematch between
Mauricio
Rua and Paul Craig
at light heavyweight, and the event will be anchored by a
welterweight thriller of Robbie
Lawler vs. Mike
Perry.
