Glenn Robinson, one of the founders of the famed Blackzilians has died, his former PR agent Jen Wenk confirmed on Thursday to MMAJunkie. The news was first reported by Christopher James via Facebook.

The cause of his untimely passing has not yet been established.

Robinson, an entrepreneur from Florida, got into the MMA game after friends at American Top Team left the gym to form their own squad. In 2011, Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Jorge Santiago and Robinson, alongside a handful of elite fighters, defected to form their own training camp, which became known as the Blackzillians.

The team boasted an impressive lineup of Alistair Overeem, Rashad Evans and Anthony Johnson during its peak.

The Blackzillians feuded fiercely with ATT, as the two camps were located mere miles from each other in Florida. The rivalry came to a boiling point during Season 21 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which featured both teams competing against one another. ATT defeated them 7-5 on the show, but the Blackzillians Kamaru Usman ultimately defeated ATT’s Hayder Hassan in the season finale.

Robinson had told MMA media, including MMAJunkie, that he had largely left the industry following the mass exodus of the Blackzillians camp.

Robinson’s age was unknown as of Friday afternoon.
