Bartosz Fabinski Dominates Darren Stewart at Cage Warriors 113

The coronavirus pandemic didn’t stop Cage Warriors Fighting Championship from holding CW 113 at the Manchester BEC Arena.

The main event saw Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters Darren Stewart (11-5) and Bartosz Fabinski (15-3) clash in the middleweight division. This fight was allowed by the UFC so that the participants of this match-up — who were supposed to fight on the scrapped UFC London card against different opponents — could get paid.

Even though Stewart opened a huge cut on his opponent’s head soon after the beginning of the opening stanza, he wasn’t able to find a counter to Fabinski’s impressive grappling skills. The Polish fighter managed to land several takedowns throughout the fight, imposing himself over a helpless opponent. Eventually, all three judges rewarded “The Butcher” with a unanimous decision victory. Fabinski has now regained the taste of victory after he lost to Michel Prazeres in his latest Octagon appearance.

It took less than a round to Mason Jones to win the vacant Cage Warriors lightweight championship at the expenses of Joe McColgan. The undefeated Jones (9-0) started strong by landing several kickboxing combinations. “The SBG Hunter” seemed able to control his opponent as he stalled the action against the fence. The ending sequence of the match saw Jones landing a vicious knee that sent immediately his opponent on the ground. He then finished the job with a series of hammer fists. Referee Rich Mitchell called the end of the action at 4:14 mark.

In a 170-pound encounter, David Bear (9-1) won a unanimous decision over Nathan Jones (13-10) after dominating his opponent on the ground for all three rounds.

In the first bout on the main card, Paddy Pimblett (15-3) walked through Decky Dalton (11-5) as he smashed his opponent to earn a first-round TKO.

Elsewhere Perry Goodwin (10-7) edged Steve Aimable (14-7) via unanimous decision in a featherweight affair; Coner Hignett (8-5) made a huge comeback as he put Darren O’Gorman (6-5) to sleep at 2:12 mark of the third stanza; in the CW flyweight division, Adam Amarasinghe (5-2) detonated Jake Bond (3-3) at 4:59 mark of the opening stanza; Jamie Richardson (9-5) overcame Matthew Bonner (6-6-1) via unanimous decision; James Hendin (5-0) edged Kris Edwards (13-12) via unanimous decision; Aidan Stephen (7-2) trashed Jack Collins (3-1) thanks to a first-round TKO after 84 seconds; Kingsley Crawford (5-2) submitted Lewis Monarch (10-6) thanks to a slick triangle choke submission in the second round.
