Two of the welterweight division’s rising contenders will square off in the main event when the Ultimate Fighting Championship travels to Chile for the first time on May 19.
According to multiple reports, Santiago Ponzinibbio and Kamaru Usman will meet in the UFC Fight Night 129 headliner at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. MMAFighting.com first brought word of the bout, which is expected to be announced soon by the UFC.
A native of La Plata, Argentina, Ponzinibbio will carry a six-fight winning streak into the matchup with Usman. The 31-year-old American Top Team representative last appeared at UFC on Fox 26, where he earned a unanimous decision over Mike Perry. “Gente Boa” owns KO/TKO wins over Gunnar Nelson, Court McGee and Andreas Stahl during his current streak.
