Conor McGregor teammate Dillon Danis was suspended seven months and fined $7,500 for his role in a post-fight brawl following the UFC 229 main event on Oct. 6.
Danis received his punishment during a Nevada Athletic Commission hearing on Monday. The suspension is retroactive to the event, which means Danis will be able to return to active competition on May 6. Danis served as a cornerman for McGregor during the Irishman’s fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.After Nurmagomedov tapped out McGregor with a rear-naked choke, he jumped out of the Octagon to attack Danis. The NAC levied the sanctions against Danis due to charges of unsportsmanlike conduct, as the fighter had to be restrained by security personnel and made obscene gestures toward Nurmagomedov and his team.
