"Flash" is returning to the Ultimate Fighting Championship Octagon six months later to face Dan Moret at UFC on ESPN 3 on the prelims portion of the Minneapolis card. Gordon revealed to James Lynch of The Score MMA that the reason for his long absence from the cage was due to a hamstring tear suffered in his December clash against Silva.

"Yeah, he put me in that Pavel stretch, it's called, I think. And I felt a tearing and I heard popping, but I knew there was only 10 seconds left, and I was like 'screw it, I'm not gonna tap.' And it turned out that my hamstring came off my pelvis, and it was close to a full tear," revealed Gordon.

When Darren Till fought Tyron Woodley for the title at UFC 228, he had a ton of hype behind him. He was 17-0-1 as a pro, but it wasn’t enough as Woodley gave him his first loss by submission in the second round.

Then, in March, he took on Jorge Masvidal, where the American knocked him out cold in the second round to put him on a two-fight losing streak.

The Englishman is now ranked 10th in Sherdog’s welterweight rankings, and according to UFC president, Dana White, he believes the promotion rushed Till too soon.

Miles Johns and Miguel Baeza left the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Tuesday with Ultimate Fighting Championship contracts in hand.

Johns manhandled CES MMA veteran Richie Santiago to a unanimous decision in their three-round encounter at 135 pounds, as the reigning Legacy Fighting Alliance bantamweight champion kept his undefeated record intact on Episode 2, Season 3 of Dana White’s Contender Series. The unbeaten Johns (8-0) swept the cards with 30-27, 30-27 and 30-26 scores.

Santiago (7-2) lacked the physical tools he needed to contend with the Fortis MMA brute. Johns paired power punching combinations with thudding takedowns and the occasional bid for a submission. He floored Santiago with a clean two-punch volley in the second round and drove him back to the canvas with knees and punches in the third before uncorking a burst of hammerfists.

The Romanian MMA community was shaken by the tragic news of the sudden death of Cosmin Dusa on Tuesday.

Dusa had been scheduled fight Lilian Grosu at Eagles Fighting Championship - Eagles Elimination on June 22. According to Alba24.ro, the Romanian bantamweight made weight on Friday morning without any apparent health problems. On Saturday morning, however, he was found by his team, collapsed in his hotel room. Dusa was rushed to a local hospital and placed in intensive care, but died on Tuesday morning, just a few days shy of his 29th birthday. The exact cause of death remains undisclosed, but is expected to be announced tomorrow.

Colby Covington’s next Octagon appearance will not be a title shot as initially anticipated. Instead, the former interim welterweight titlist will square off against Robbie Lawler in the UFC on ESPN 5 headliner.

UFC President Dana White told ESPN on Monday that the promotion is close to finalizing the contest. UFC on ESPN 5 will take place on Aug. 3 in Newark, N.J. Both fighters have reportedly agreed to the matchup. According to the report, Covington would have faced Usman, but the reigning champion is not ready to defend his title as he is still recovering from injuries.

Covington hasn’t competed since winning the interim 170-pound strap with a unanimous verdict over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 in June 2018. “Chaos” was stripped of the crown due to inactivity. The American Top Team product is currently on a six-fight winning streak. He has won nine of his 10 UFC appearances overall.

According to Andrea Lee, that was the case for her during a unanimous decision victory over Montana De La Rosa at UFC Fight Night 154 on Saturday night.

“I thought this was probably the worst fight I’ve ever had,” Lee said. “I was not very happy about my performance, but I gotta go back and watch everything. She is a great wrestler. Luckily, she was not able to do much after the take downs and I could get back on my feet every time, I just feel I didn’t throw enough volume. I don’t know what it was. I felt great going into the fight, but you know, you are not always the same in your fights.”

Eric Spicely’s bank account was hurting heading into UFC Greenville. After putting on an entertaining performance in a loss to Deron Winn, “Zebrinha” has a little more financial breathing room.

Spicely received a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award at the conclusion of Saturday’s card at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C. While Winn captured a unanimous verdict in his Octagon debut, Spicely was a willing dance partner as the contest featured numerous spirited standup exchanges.

Ashley Yoder got her first Ultimate Fighting Championship win last time out. The 31-year-old lost to Justin Kish, Angela Hill and Mackenzie Dern, but beat Amanda Cooper back in November. To finally get her first win in the Las Vegas-based promotion was surreal.

"It felt good. It was a rough fight going into it, and a lot of personal stuff going on," Yoder said to Sherdog.com. "My number one coach wasn't there. Just a bunch of chaos, but we overcame it. It may not have been my best performance. At the end of the day, you just have to go in there and do your best."

Now, she is set to take on Syuri Kondo at UFC Greenville. Although Yoder wanted to return much sooner than this, she is just glad to be fighting. Ultimately, the American is excited to take on Kondo and showcase all her skills once more.

Andre Ewell will return to the Octagon to take on Anderson dos Santos at UFC Fight Night 154. There, the American is looking to get back into the win column after losing to Nathaniel Wood back at UFC 232.

Although getting another fight took longer than he thought, Ewell knows he has to win this fight on Saturday. "Well, everything I have to do is be me. At the end of the day it is a must win, every fight is a must win," Ewell said to Sherdog.com. "No one is looking at people who are losing. For me, I know he is coming in with heart and has Brazil behind him. We both know what we bring to the table, but I just have to put my hands on him."

Something going against Ewell in this fight is the fact that dos Santos will no doubt be the bigger man given his last fight was at featherweight. However, the 31-year-old doesn't believe that will be a factor at all on Saturday.

Paddy Donovan, the southpaw amateur boxer from Limerick, Ireland, has signed a multi-year contract with Top Rank and is expected to make his professional debut later this year.

"I'm honored to sign with Top Rank. They are the best in boxing," Donovan said. "My goal is to become a world champion, and there is no one better than Top Rank to help me achieve my goal."

Donovan owns a lengthy amateur record of 161-5 and holds 13 national titles. The 20-year-old is managed and trained by Andy Lee, a former middleweight world champion in his own right.

"Paddy is a special talent," said his trainer. "He has all the skills and character to become a world champion. Top Rank's record of taking amateur boxers and guiding them into world champions is second to none. We couldn't be with a better company."

Donovan has earned championships outside of Ireland as well, including two titles at the Haringey Box Cup and a silver medal at the 2015 International Boxing Association …

It could be a while before Henry Cejudo has to make a decision on which UFC championship belt he defends next.

According to a report from ESPN, Cejudo will be sidelined four to five months after undergoing shoulder surgery to repair an injury suffered in his bantamweight title win over Marlon Moraes at UFC 238 on June 8.

Cejudo tore his subcapularis muscle, which is part of the rotator cuff. Given the recovery time, it is unlikely that the Olympic gold medalist fights before the end of 2019.

“The Messenger” became flyweight champion with a split verdict over Demetrious Johnson at UFC 227 last August and defended the crown with a 32-second stoppage of then-bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw at UFC Brooklyn in January.

To this day Edimilson Souza’s departure from the UFC is a mystery.

The Brazilian featherweight did not have his contract renewed despite winning three of his first four bouts in the Las Vegas-based promotion from 2013 to 2015. After almost four years, he is unclear of the reasoning for the UFC’s decision. But he believes that if he were competing in the Octagon today he would be among the best in his division.

"I have no doubt [that I would be at the top of the featherweights]. I look at my category today in the UFC and I see it was for me to be among the top 5 in the division, easy, no problem at all,” said Souza. "I have the ability to return to the UFC and Future [Fighting Championships] will be my new gateway."
