Andre Fialho is $50,000 richer after securing his first UFC victory.

The Portugal native received a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his first-round stoppage of Miguel Baeza in a featured welterweight affair at UFC on ESPN 34 on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Fialho rocked his foe with a series of uppercuts in the clinch, dropped him with a left hook and finished the fight with a hammerfist on the ground at the 4:39 mark of Round 1.

Belal Muhammad is a much-improved fighter since the first time he and Vicente Luque crossed paths, and it showed on Saturday night.

Muhammad (21-3, 12-3, 1 NC UFC) executed his game plan to near perfection, capturing a unanimous decision against Luque (21-8-1, 14-4) in the UFC on ESPN 34 main event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. “Remember the Name” received scorecards of 49-46 (twice) and 48-47 from the cageside judges to extend his unbeaten streak to eight — the third-longest in the UFC’s welterweight division.

“This is my hump I had to get over,” Muhammad said. “He knocked me out. He beat me. I had to think about that my whole camp.”

Clark (13-6, 7-6 UFC) defeated Knight via technical knockout in their heavyweight bout at UFC on ESPN 34, ending the contest at the 3:21 mark of Round 3 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Clark snaps a two-fight skid in victory, while Knight has lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his career.

Knight put together a strong start, threatening Clark with a tight guillotine early and then following a jumping knee with a flurry of power punches in the waning moments of Round 1. After more than a two-year hiatus, Luis Gustavo Felix dos Santos made his Rizin Fighting Federation return in emphatic fashion on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Evolucao Thai product defeated recent lightweight title challenger Yusuke Yachi via technical knockout in the Rizin "Trigger 3rd" main event at Musashino Forest Plaza in Tokyo, Japan. Dos Santos swarmed his opponent near the fence, dropped him with a right hand and was pulled off by referee Minoru Toyonaga before any more damage could be done at the 3:14 mark of Round 2. The stage has been set for a trio of title fights at the top of the Rizin Fighting Federation 35 card.

All six competitors slated to compete for championship gold made weight ahead of their Rizin 35 bouts on Saturday. Roberto Souza tipped the scales at 156.4 pounds for his lightweight title defense against Johnny Case (156.3) in the evening’s main event, while reigning featherweight king Juntaro Ushiku checked in at 145.2 pounds for his showdown against Yutaka Saito (145.2). Patricio Freire Ousts A.J. McKee, Reclaims Featherweight Title in Bellator 277 Headliner

Patricio “Pitbull” Freire avenged a July 31 submission defeat and reclaimed the Bellator MMA featherweight throne for a third time, as he laid claim to a unanimous decision over A.J. McKee in the Bellator 277 headliner on Saturday at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Scores were 49-46, 48-47 and 48-47.

McKee (18-1, 18-1 Bellator) struggled to find an offensive rhythm. The resourceful Freire (33-5, 21-5 Bellator) kept him off-balance with repeated kicks to the inside and outside of his lead leg, pieced together occasional punching combinations and threatened him with a guillotine choke in the third round. McKee did his best work in Round 5, where he executed multiple takedowns, stayed busy with his hands and zeroed in on the Brazilian’s midsection with kicks. Calvillo was previously booked against Brianna Fortino, but the latter was forced out of their 115-pound affair for undisclosed reasons, stemming from a report by Alex Behunin in March. Instead of remaining on that June 4 card at strawweight, she will stay at flyweight at the UFC Fight Night event on July 9, roughly one month later.

Chris Curtis will square off against Rodolfo Vieira in a middleweight bout at an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on June 25.

Curtis’ management initially announced the booking via Twitter. The card doesn’t have a location or a headliner at this time.

Curtis will return to action following a breakout 2021 that saw him post a 6-0 record. “The Action Man” closed out that memorable campaign in style with back-to-back stoppage victories over Phil Hawes and Brendan Allen in UFC competition. Curtis was forced to withdraw from a proposed booking against Dricus Du Plessis on April 9.

PFL CEO Peter Murray Addresses Controversial Taped Event, Harrison vs. ‘Cyborg’ Possibilities

Professional Fighters League was at the forefront of some controversy last week when it came to light that its PFL Challenger Series event on April 1 was pre-recorded..

As a result, the event was flagged for suspicious activity by U.S. Integrity, a company that monitors betting markets, when odds moved significantly in favor of the winning fighters ahead of that Friday’s broadcast on FuboTV. There was some confusion regarding the event, as all prior PFL Challenger Series events aired live, and numerous sportsbooks received action on the event. That ultimately resulted in some unsettled bets in relation to the event, as well as an ongoing investigation by U.S. Integrity.

The PFL confirmed that the event was indeed taped, however, promotion gambling personality Ian Parker was not present on the broadcast nor were betting lines listed or discussed during the card.

Marlon Moraes is hanging up the four-ounce gloves following a difficult stretch in which he lost his last four fights by knockout or technical knockout.

The former World Series of Fighting champion and UFC title challenger announced his retirement through a statement released by his manager, Ali Abdelaziz.

“I want to thank everyone – Sean Shelby, Dana White and the UFC for giving me so many opportunities,” Moraes wrote. “I want to thank my family, my coaches, my manager, everybody who has been around and been part of my career. I’m still gonna be around the sport helping young guys and helping my friends. I also want to say thank you to Mark Henry, Ricardo Almeida, Frankie Edgar and Anderson França.”

UFC 273 Medical Suspensions: ‘Korean Zombie’ Gets 14 Days, Tecia Torres Receives Indefinite Term

Although Chan Sung Jung took a horrific beating in a fourth-round technical knockout loss to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 273, “The Korean Zombie” will only be sidelined for a minimal period of time.

Jung received a 14-day medical suspension – as did Volkanovski – for their featherweight championship headliner, which took place at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., this past Saturday. Fighters who suffer a KO/TKO defeat or take part in a difficult fight typically receive at least a 30- or 60-day term from other athletic commissions.

The Florida State Boxing Commission released a full list of medical suspensions from the event on Tuesday. The nature of each suspension was not disclosed.
