Andrea Lee Calls Win Over Montana De La Rosa ‘Probably the Worst Fight I’ve Ever Had’

In combat sports, it’s always a gift to emerge victorious when you’re not firing on all cylinders.

According to Andrea Lee, that was the case for her during a unanimous decision victory over Montana De La Rosa at UFC Fight Night 154 on Saturday night.

“I thought this was probably the worst fight I’ve ever had,” Lee said. “I was not very happy about my performance, but I gotta go back and watch everything. She is a great wrestler. Luckily, she was not able to do much after the take downs and I could get back on my feet every time, I just feel I didn’t throw enough volume. I don’t know what it was. I felt great going into the fight, but you know, you are not always the same in your fights.”

Despite her own critique, Lee was able to bloody her opponent on the feet and while she was taken down five times, she successfully defended seven other attempts. It was enough for “KGB” to extend her overall winning streak to seven, a stretch that includes a trio of triumphs in the UFC.

Lee has fought twice in the Octagon since her husband, Donny Aaron, was accused of domestic battery for allegedly attempting to choke her and burn her with a cigarette in Shreveport, La., last August. Aaron arrested in Texas last month for speeding and possession of marijuana, and it was discovered that he had a warrant for his arrest in Louisiana. As a result, he was extradited across state lines, where he was charged with failure to appear in court and domestic battery. He was later released on $1,700 bond.

“There are always things going on in your life, maybe that’s what affected me. I’m not blaming anyone or anything. I just think I could have done better and I should have done better. I had an amazing camp, I was just not able to let it go. But I just proved to myself and everybody else that I’m not going to quit.”
