On Wednesday, the PFL announced they added Serrano (2-0-1, 0-0 PFL)
to the PPV Super Fight Division. The promotion hasnโt announced an
opponent or a date for Serranoโs promotional debut. Serrano, a
historic figure from Puerto Rico, holds an impressive 44-2-1 record
in boxing, with 30 knockouts. Serrano is set to compete this
weekend as she attempts to defend her titles against Heather
Hardy on Aug. 5.
“I joined the PFL PPV Super Fight Division because of their
revolutionary format that empowers fighters like never before. The
PFL’s commitment to promoting high-profile, pay-per-view events
with some of the biggest MMA stars in the world showcases an
incredible opportunity to elevate my career to new heights and
prove my ability beyond just the ring. I may be known for boxing,
but Iโve always loved and trained in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu, knowing
those skills would only add to my ability when going against any
opponent,โ said Amanda
Serrano. โThe league’s commitment to gender equality, providing
equal opportunities and recognition of female fighters, is also a
driving force behind my decision. I can’t wait to step back into
the cage and deliver thrilling performances and unforgettable
moments for fans around the world.”
Serranoโs signing with the PFL is highly anticipated due to her
previous mixed martial arts success. After her MMA debut ended with
a draw, Serrano scored back-to-back first-round submission
victories. Her latest MMA assignment dates to June 2021, when she
submitted Valentina
Garcia via guillotine choke at iKon Fighting Federation 7.
โIโm thrilled to announce undisputed world boxing champion Amanda
Serrano as the next global superstar to join the PFL PPV Super
Fight Division,โ said PFL CEO Peter Murray. โOur fighter-first
culture has attracted the worldโs top athletes and weโre looking
forward to seeing Amanda take on the sport of MMA with the
PFL.โ
Serrano is just the latest name to join the PFL PPV Super Fight
Division, following the likes of former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight
kingpin Francis
Ngannou, Jake Paul and
Kayla
Harrison, among others.
