for this exciting November matchup. Adrian
Yanez (14-3) has the first fight of his new contract scheduled
already, and he is to face Davey Grant
(13-5), according to
ESPN Deportes on Friday. The 135-pounders will square off at
the upcoming UFC
Fight Night card on Nov. 20 inside the UFC Apex in Las
Vegas.
Yanez is surging into this bout with the Brit, as the winner of his
last seven appearances including four in a row by knockout. A
veteran of Legacy Fighting Alliance and Fury Fighting Championship, the Texan made his
way towards a spot on the 2020 season of Dana White’s Contender Series with several
solid knockouts on his way up. A 39-second drubbing of Brady Huang
served as the springboard to his UFC debut, which came against
Victor
Rodriguez in October 2020. Yanez flattened Rodriguez with a
head kick, and he went on to put Gustavo
Lopez and Randy Costa
away with strikes in 2021.
Grant lost some of his momentum in his last time out, where he
dropped a hard-fought yet thrilling decision to Marlon Vera
in June. He and the Ecuadorian did take home “Fight of the Night”
honors, giving Grant his third post-fight bonus in a row. After
getting put to sleep by Manny
Bermudez in 2018, “Dangerous Davey” came back with a split
decision win over Grigory
Popov. Two knockouts of Martin Day
and Jonathan
Martinez led to his fight with the aforementioned Vera.
The UFC Fight Night event on Nov. 20 currently does not have a
headliner, although it is expected to be held at the UFC Apex in
Las Vegas. High up on the card is a welterweight scrap pitting
Michael
Chiesa against the unbeaten Sean Brady.
An additional main card tilt comes in the flyweight division, when
Joanne
Calderwood squares off against Alexa
Grasso.
