ACA President Alexey Yatsenko on ACA 114 Headliner: ‘A Real 5-Round Battle of the Titans’

On Nov. 26, top-ranked Absolute Championship Akhmat heavyweights
Daniel
Omielanczuk
and Tony
Johnson
will fight for the vacant ACA heavyweight title.

According to ACA President Alexey Yatsenko,
ACA 114
in Lodz, Poland, will go on without spectators, taking
into account the local COVID-19 restrictions in place. The event,
which will be available for purchase on pay-per-view through the
ACA website, will otherwise be unaffected.

“It will be a real five-round battle of the titans,” Yatsenko
exclaimed to Sherdog. “The title became vacant after its owner
Mukhomad
Vakhaev
finished his contract with our organization, and it was
decided not to renew it by mutual agreement. The main contender,
the first number of the heavyweight ranking, the Pole Daniel
Omielanczuk
received a serious opponent. Although Tony
Johnson
lost in his last fight to Evgeniy
Goncharov
, we all saw that this victory was won with the
‘bicycle tactics,’ when the Russian wearing down the American.”

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter
Omielanczuk (24-9-1, 1 NC) knocked out Evgeny
Erokhin
, Denis
Smoldarev
and Tomas
Pakutinskas
in his last three fights. In an interview for
Sherdog, he said that he has not been chasing titles for a long
time, but he is more interested in competing and making money. As a
UFC fighter, Omielanczuk came up short against foes like Curtis
Blaydes
, Timothy
Johnson
and Stefan
Struve
. On the other hand, he managed to defeat opponents like
Alexey
Oleinik
, Jarjis
Danho
and Chris de
la Rocha
.

Johnson (13-5-1, 1 NC) is the #3 ranked heavyweight in ACA.
Throughout his career, he defeated multiple famous fighters like
Alexander
Volkov
, Tim Sylvia and
Derrick
Lewis
. In 2018, “Hulk” engaged in a memorable battle with
Alexander Emelianenko in 2018, where the two goliaths fought to a
draw. After several bouts in One Championship and Bellator MMA, Johnson found his way to ACA in 2019 and
has competed three times. His debut was victorious, when he tapped
out Denis
Smoldarev
in the first round to earn a title shot. His attempt
to win the belt was unsuccessful when his pairing with Goncharov
was declared as no contest due to an accidental eye poke. In the
rematch, Goncharov won by decision.
