Khabib Says Demetrious Johnson’s Gaming Habit Made Cousin Lose Fight

Khabib
Nurmagomedov
claims his cousin Abubakar
Nurmagomedov
lost a fight because of Demetrious
Johnson
.

“Mighty Mouse” is currently helping coach Khabib prepare Islam
Makhachev
and Umar
Nurmagomedov
prepare for their upcoming title fights. While
Makhachev will defend his lightweight title against Arman
Tsarukyan
in the main event, Umar challenges Merab
Dvalishvili
for the bantamweight strap in the co-main event at
UFC
311
on Jan. 18 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Johnson recently uploaded footage from the Dagestani camp where he
can be seen spending some quality time with the team in addition to
the training sessions. One of the clips features Khabib accusing
the fellow GOAT contender of making Abubakar lose a fight. Khabib
recalled Abubakar losing a fight due to excessive computer gaming
with Johnson, whose obsession with gaming is well known in MMA.

“You play with Abubakar? Because of you, you take him all the time
to game, he lose one fight,” Khabib said. “I remember this.”

Johnson admitted being close competitors with Abubakar at one point
but said he hasn’t seen the Dagestani play in a while now.

“Me, Abubakar. We used to be like this [really close], good
shooters, good playing,” Johnson said. “But now I haven’t seen him
play in a long time.”

According to Khabib, Abubakar’s gaming career ended when they broke
his computer.

“Because we break his computer,” Khabib said. “I know you think we
joking, but we break his computer.”

Abubakar is 2-2 in the UFC and coming off a split-decision loss
against Elizeu
Zaleski dos Santos
that saw a two-fight winning streak snapped.
Nurmagomedov was removed from the UFC roster this past February and
signed with the newly-formed promotion Global Fight League earlier
this month.
