Sharabutdin
Magomedov believes Michael
Page is more reliable than Paulo
Costa.
Magomedov was recently asked about Costa and “MVP” as potential
opponents for his next fight. While “Shara Bullet” would like to
fight both, he doesn’t think Costa is very reliable considering the
Brazilian’s history of pulling out of fights. Magomedov would
prefer Page, who is also a dynamic striker.
Despite being from Dagestan, which is home to some of the best
wrestlers in the world, Magomedov is primarily a striker who has
competed in muay thai and Lethwei for much of his career. And
Magomedov doesn’t plan on turning into a wrestler in a potential
clash against a flashy striker like Page.
“I’d like to fight them both. Of course, Page is a better option
because Costa isn’t consistent enough,” Magomedov recently told Red
Corner MMA. “He pulls out quite often… I’d love to fight Page. He’s
always ready to go. I attended his fight in Las Vegas [UFC 303].
He’s an interesting guy, or a ‘cool dude’, I’d say. It would be
exciting… I don’t think I’d ever throw away my game plan. He’s
the one who’ll find himself on the canvas. So, I’ll have to
ground-and-pound him a bit. I’m not going to wrestle with him. I’m
going to stick to my fighting style, my plan, like I always
did.”
Page decisioned Kevin
Holland in his debut at UFC 299 this past March and has since
dropped a unanimous decision against Ian Garry at
UFC 303 in June.
Meanwhile, Magomedov is undefeated in 15 pro outings, which
includes four inside the UFC. “Shara Bullet” most recently scored a
one-of-kind double spinning backfist knockout over Armen
Petrosyan at UFC 308
this past October. Despite having competed three times within a
span of four months, Magomedov wanted to compete at UFC
Macau on Nov. 23. However, the UFC advised him to take some
time off.
”I wanted to fight in Macau next. But the UFC insisted I should
take some time off, get hungry. Thanks to the UFC for their care,
but I’m always charged and ready to perform, in Saudi Arabia or any
place they want.”
