The
Professional Fighters League‘s return to Saudi Arabia is now
set following the PFL “Battle
of the Giants” weigh-ins.
The pay-per-view card is stacked with three superfight championship
bouts, with the mixed martial arts return of Francis
Ngannou headlining the event. Renan
Ferreira will look to ruin the superstar’s PFL debut, and both
men came in under the 265-pound limit. All fighters on the card
made weight, including the four other title fight participants as
Cris
Cyborg and Larissa
Pacheco will square off for featherweight gold, while Johnny
Eblen and Fabian
Edwards clash for middleweight glory.
Ngannou (17-3) finally returns to MMA after going winless in boxing
after having a competitive bout with Tyson Fury
and getting viciously knocked out by Anthony
Joshua. “The Predator” previously defended his UFC heavyweight
title in January 2022 by winning a decision over Ciryl Gane.
The 38-year-old enters the fight with the lineal heavyweight title
and riding a six-fight win streak. Ngannou officially weighed 256.8
pounds, making him the lighter man in the cage.
Ferreira (13-3, 3 NC) has been far more active as he’s had eight
fights since his opponent last fought. “Problema” most recently put
four knockouts together in a row and won the 2023 PFL heavyweight
season in the process. His most recent victim was Ryan Bader,
who lasted just 21 seconds in the cage against the Brazilian.
Ferreira stepped on the scale at 261.5 pounds.
The PFL “Battle of the Giants” main card will air live on ESPN+ and
Dazn pay-per-view at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on Saturday. Meanwhile,
the prelims begin on ESPN+ at 1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT.
